Grok
Interesting having an LLM wired into Twitter's data. Outside that, xAI has an uphill climb.
What I use it for
Where it shines
- Direct access to Twitter/X data is genuinely unique. No other LLM has that real-time social feed.
- Useful for Twitter-specific context and social media analysis.
Where it struggles
- Outside Twitter, xAI has an uphill climb. Especially on consumer distribution.
- API is very expensive. Limits developer adoption.
- Recent departures and no major model releases. They've stalled relative to OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
- Hard to see enterprise adoption. Most enterprises won't build on xAI infrastructure.
Notes
Used Grok through Twitter. Interesting having access to such a large social platform's data, but outside Twitter, xAI has an uphill climb. The API is expensive, and although they started catching up to OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, recent departures and a lack of major model releases have them stalling. Consumer distribution outside Twitter is a question mark, and enterprise adoption looks unlikely. At best, a niche tool for Twitter-specific analysis.
How to try it
Use it through Twitter/X. Ask it about trending topics or recent conversations. That's where the unique value shows. For anything else, the big three are stronger.
